Sojourner Truth's Speech

I think by listening to the Sojouner Truth Speech, it made me gain a greater insight on the emotion that lies behind this piece.  When reading it, I had no idea that it was going to be like the way it is in the video, it’s remarkable.  In the Sojouner Truth Speech, I gained that the Sojouner Truth Speech was mostly about individuality.  This may be weird, but I put myself in her shoes well, I tried to imagine myself if I were her.  She talks about her role as a black woman in the community— this left her with the ability to talk about this subject first hand.  This was the first time that African American women were standing up for themselves.  These remarkable women are now coming forward and speaking out with their thoughts on their rights/ responsibilities as American citizens and as human beings!  WOMEN RIGHTS!  She tells the truth and that’s it, hence the reason of the title.

I know that in today’s society, that women are now speaking out for themselves but, just imagine you in her shoes.  Think about starting a movement, not knowing if anyone would follow you and your thoughts.  I think that most of us wouldn’t.  If put I/ we were put into this situation.  I think that we will stand back and wait and then after she started it begin to speak out with her.  It still happens today!  She is very brave and is a remarkable lady!  I feel as if we should make students around the world listen to this speech, it makes me and probably many others gain respect for the rights we have.  It makes us appreciate what we have and shows us how brave they had to be back then to just be respected and that we can do the same thing.
