Just a couple thoughts from the discussion today
I had a couple thoughts I didn't share during class that I thought I would share here. First, in the poem, "For My Lover, Returning to His Wife," I looked at the narrator as a much gentler and understanding woman. I did not see her as someone who looked at his wife as a "cookie-cutter" house wife. I thought she almost felt bad for the actions she did with a married man. I think she looked at the wife as an admirable woman. She calls the wife "solid" and says, "She is more than that. She is your have to have,... She is all harmony." I think she looks to the wife as a strong woman and feels remorse for her actions. Secondly, I really liked the piece by Margaret Sanger. I think it is crazy that debates over birth control still exist. The horrific scenes described by Sanger are a bit scary, because these issues of women having unsafe abortions could come full circle and become an issue again today if abortion or birth control are outlawed today in our society. It is kind of scary to think about how far we have progressed, yet it could take a jump back if these controversial subjects are banned.

To the second part of your blog post i totally agree! I remember my mom telling me once that woman used to go in the back of alley ways and use hangers to try to get rid of their pregnancy. Its awful the lengths that woman were willing to not have a child, it literally makes me cringe. Its scary to think that if pro-life is put into action this cycle could happen all over again, its a very scary thought.
