CWW Presentation 10/26 - Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson was born on April 24^th, 1982 making her 30 years old. She is a singer, songwriter and occasional actress. She was born and raised in Texas. Kelly Clarkson became popular after winning the first season of the hit TV show American Idol in 2002. Her first song ever released, “A Moment Like This” topped the Billboard Hot 100 and broke the record in 2002 for the biggest jump to number one in the chart’s history.

In 2007, Clarkson made the courageous decision to release her self-produced third album My December. The lack of mainstream production became a problem with her record label who wanted her to record new, more “mainstream” material. Her latest album, All I Ever Wanted has had several chart-topping singles including “Mr.Know It All” and “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”

Some of Clarkson’s musical influences include Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey. Clarkson is involved in many charity organizations including “March for Babies” which is a charity for the health of mothers and babies. She is also involved in “Houses of Hope” which builds orphanages in South African for children who have been affected by HIV/AIDS, abuse and poverty.
