The question that was raised in discussion leading of "Writing and Motherhood" if any of our mothers sacrificed anything for us made me realize how much in fact my mother has done just this. I'm sure almost everyone's mothers have dedicated a large amount of themselves to their children. Most mothers would drop anything that they're doing if their child needs them. Personally, I think my mother really should be called Supermom. When my father was severely depressed and was unable to maintain a job for several years, my mother worked nonstop. She had picked up a second job working nights, while still working days as a lunch lady AND raising my brother and I. Even though my mother had hardly any time to rest, I barely remember a suppertime when my mother hadn't served a home-cooked meal. She really gave her all into being the best mother she could be. She sacrificed her sleep, health, and just general alone time for herself so my brother, father, and I didn't have to suffer. I hope someday that I can even become close to being as dedicated as my mother is to her family.
Note: Sorry this topic goes kind of far back..I hadn't realized I made a draft and never published it!
